Echoes of Awakening is a contemporary abstract painting created in February 2025 using oil colors on canvas with layered textures, palette knife techniques, and a symbolic figurative composition inspired by the eagle. This painting represents a journey of inner strength, spiritual awakening, and artistic expression.

Inspiration Behind Echoes of Awakening
Every abstract painting has a story, and this one began as a series artwork following my earlier painting, “Ethereal Elegance: Shadows in Celestial Mist.” I intended to create a sequence using similar colors, brushstrokes, and moods, but as the painting evolved, it took on its own identity.
The eagle has always been my symbol of inspiration. In my figurative abstract paintings, the eagle represents bravery, freedom, and the courage to rise above challenges. In Echoes of Awakening, the textures and colors reflect not only the eagle’s strength but also the awakening of the artist’s own spirit.
Step 1: Foundation of Abstract Painting – Building the First Layers
Creating depth in modern abstract oil painting always starts with strong layers. For this painting, I began with a base coat of white to give balance and clarity to the canvas. Over this, I gradually applied peach, pink, and light orange layers.
Each layer was carefully built with oil paints, and I allowed them to dry for about 10 days per layer. This technique is crucial in layering oil painting in abstract art, as it prevents colors from blending unintentionally and helps create the illusion of depth.
The early stages may look simple, but they form the foundation for the entire contemporary abstract composition.

Step 2: Creating Texture in Abstract Painting

On the light orange layer, I used a palette knife to scrape, spread, and imprint strokes. The knife created ridges and impressions that gave the canvas a raw, tactile surface. After the textured foundation, I moved to the final upper layers, where I mixed Viridian Hue (greenish-blue), black, and touches of light blue. These colors created a dramatic contrast against the warm underpainting.
Through abstract strokes and layered textures, I shaped a figurative eagle in flight. However, the painting gradually began to reveal two eagles approaching each other. This wasn’t intentional at first, but it made me realize a deeper meaning: “When an artist awakens, he first meets his own spirit.”
This is why the painting is titled Echoes of Awakening. It is both a modern figurative abstract painting of an eagle and a symbolic representation of artistic awakening.

Step 4: Naming the Painting – Echoes of Awakening
The name came after the process was complete. Titles in modern abstract art often emerge from emotion rather than concept. The echoes represent repeated struggles, while awakening reflects the moment of realization.
